OUR GUARDIAN HOME PROGRAM

The guardian home program places a potential breeding male or female puppy into a permanent pet home while still participating in our breeding program. We use this program so all of our dogs live with families instead of kennels, receiving all the love and attention they so deserve!  If you live within 3 hours driving distance from our location, own your home and have a fenced in yard you are welcome to apply for our guardian home program. The benefits of this program are the puppy comes to you at NO COST and you will be compensated per litter. He/she will be your pet, living with you permanently. Once their breeding career is over (approximately 3-5years, males sometimes longer), they will be spayed/neutered at our cost and live the rest of their lives with you, their family.

As a guardian home you will be required to pay for everyday expenses of owning a dog including annual exams, vaccines, food, etc. We will pay for all breeding related costs including health testing.

Being a guardian home is not for everyone.  You must be willing to follow these requirements...

​

  • Be within 3 driving hours from Chesapeake, VA

  • Be willing to teach basic commands such as sit, stay, lay-down and leave it.

  • Be willing to socialize them as puppies

  • He/she must be an indoor pet

  • Fed premium, quality food

  • Any other dogs in the home must be fixed if opposite sex

  • Send a copy of all vet visits to THE PINK POPPY FARM

  • Must not allow he/she to mate with any unapproved dogs

  • If you are a guardian home to a female, you must be willing to drop off for 1 week while being bred & again 1 week before whelping puppies. Mom will stay with us until puppies are weaned (approximately 4-5 weeks)

  • If you are a guardian home to a male, you must be willing to drop off for 1 week for breeding

  • Open communication! This is HUGE to us!
